Showjumping Lesson for Louie

Despite today's rather grim weather up in Northumberland, we headed to our showjumping lesson. & we are so glad we did!

Louie is as green as grass over showjumps, and we've been working really hard on increasing his confidence and taking trust from me.

We've been together six weeks tomorrow, and have now worked up to jumping bigger cross poles with fillers in from the side. Louie is even pulling me into the jumps now!

Today we worked on a really useful exercise to take Louie's mind off all that's going on around an arena - changing pace and transition within the gait. It certainly worked for Louie, he's responsive to it, and it's very simple to do.

It may seem like baby steps to some, but even just two weeks ago, Louie was very suspect of showjumps away from home, so to just jump away from home today, even small cross poles, was a sure sign of some really positive progression.

Louie even looked to be really enjoying his jumping today!!

With lots more showjumping lessons booked in from now until the end of April, we're looking forward to bringing you further progress reports.

Thanks for reading - we hope you enjoyed it as much as we did!
